All of the superb restaurants are included in the package including three restaurants which offer á la carte or fine dining. There's champagne by the glass from 6pm, an impressive wine list including over 40 carefully selected wines, soft drinks and imported spirits.

Occasionally the hotel may use one of its restaurants for a group booking and post-Easter to September the hotel may close two of its restaurants.

From 01 November 2017, Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa will become a dedicated All Inclusive resort.

Dress Code During the day the dress code is casual, during the evening the restaurants prefer guests to be smart-casual, so shirts and trousers (full length) for men.

The restaurant has wooden decking which extends down towards the beach, around the pool plus also offers lovely views over the pool itself and lagoon. Open for breakfast between 07:00 and 10:00, lunch between 12:30 and 15:00 and dinner between 18:30 and 21:30. Seats 320.

Le Sirius Grill & Bar

This restaurant has a stunning location looking out across the hotel's second pool. Open for breakfast between 07:00 and 10:00, lunch between 12:15 and 14:45 and dinner (on reservation) from 19:00 and 22:00. Seats 120.

Ponte Vecchio

ITALIAN TRATTORIA

Ponte Vecchio has a fantastic, lively atmosphere and serves delicious Mediterranean á la carte cuisine at its location right in the heart of the hotel's entertainment area. Open for lunch (depending on the season) between 12:15 and 14:45 and á la carte dinner 19:00 and 22:00. Seats 80

Teak Elephan

THAI RESTAURANT

Enjoy a unique dining experience at Shandrani's Thai restaurant. You can enjoy a fine dining taster menu that changes weekly and is filled with various flavours and spices! Teak Elephant is available for guests over 12 years old and is open between 19:00 and 22:00. Seats 70.

Blue Bay Bar

The Blue Bay Bar is set in the heart of the hotel overlooking the main pool. Delicious pancakes, snacks, tea and coffee are served from 15:00 to 17:00. Open from 10:00 to 00:30.

Le Sirius Bar

Located at Le Sirius Restaurant, the bar is next to the second pool and overlooks the lagoon. Snacks are served between 15:00 and 17:00. Open 10:00 to midnight

Land Sports

Shandrani has 6 floodlit tennis courts (hard courts, Head tennis racket hire is complimentary however tennis balls will need to be purchased), a 9-hole pitch and putt golf course (we recommend you take your own golf balls), table tennis, volley ball and bocci ball. The hotel offers weekly free group tennis lessons and a pro is on hand for private lessons. Mountain bikes are also available.

Gym

Guests at Shandrani may make use of the gymnasium which has machines and free weights and offers a number of aerobic classes.

Water Sports

With its location, on Blue Bay, Shandrani is the perfect spot for watersports and there's plenty of free sports including; water-skiing, windsurfing, sailing, glass bottom boat trips, snorkelling trips, kayaks and pedal boats. There's also weekly free group windsurfing and sailing lessons.

Diving

Shandrani Beachcomber has a PADI-Diving Centre which offers a comprehensive diving programme. Explore ancient wrecks off the Southern coast and discover sizzling aquariums of tropical fish on the island’s reefs.

Shandrani Sailing Club

The sailing club is a member of the Mauritius Yachting Association and is accredited by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF). The club is at a small extra charge to guests and is aimed at those trying sailing for the first time or those wanting to hone basic skills. It may therefore not appeal to experienced sailors. You can progress to beginner's level with an average of just one hours sailing per day for 5 days. The Sailing school starts from 6 years and up and guests can choose to learn in optimist (for the younger ones), laser or hobie cat.

Deep Sea Fishing

Mauritius offers excellent deep sea fishing in season. There is a fishing charter company in Black River in the south west of the island that we recommend. They offer half and full day trips on fully equipped specialist fishing boats. For more information on boats and prices, call or email us.

Beachcomber Sports & Nature

The Beachcomber Sport & Nature Programme brings you thrilling close encounters with the island's fascinating wildlife, combined with a choice of energetic sporting activities - including mountain biking, trekking, canoeing and canyoning. Whichever you choose, you can take part at a level that suits your skills and confidence.

To help ensure your safety, you'll always be accompanied by a qualified instructor and use equipment that's regularly checked and maintained at the peak of efficiency. All of the activities in the programme have been designed to bring out the best in the unspoiled landscape of southern Mauritius, and there's a chance to visit the famous wildlife sanctuary of Ile aux Aigrettes, too.

This 60-acre sanctuary provides a home for rare and endangered wildlife, including the almost extinct Pink Pigeon. Rather than being competitive, the half-day excursions are geared towards spending time with family and friends according to individual levels of fitness. The Beachcomber Sport & Nature programme is at an additional cost.

Kids Club Beachcomber is run by qualified professionals who provide fun, but also educational, indoor and outdoor activities to keep your little ones entertained and happy. Every day there is a set activities programme which you can dip in and out of, if you also want to spend some family time together during the day.

Children and infants under 3 can attend the Club but must be accompanied by an adult or baby sitter.
